A Brief Quadrivium
While teaching the honors math section at Regina Luminis Academy in 2023 and 2024, I taught a course to 9th graders based on A Brief Quadrivium by Peter Ulrickson, working through the classical compass-and-straightedge constructions. To accompany the book, I recorded a series of videos of the constructions, since it’s much easier to follow along with a video you can pause and rewind than to keep pace in class.
I Miss My Ursinus Students
When Ursinus moved to remote learning in the spring of 2020, I made a weekly series of Office-style videos with my family called “I Miss My Ursinus Students” which were vignettes of me trying (and failing) to be a professor at home with my kids underfoot. Ursinus featured the first one on its Instagram, where it became one of the most popular post in the account’s history. I made one a week every week from the start of COVID until we returned to in-person classes.
