Pedagogy with a view towards history


Closely related to the Topology papers project is my interest in using history to inform pedagogy. That is, I am attracted to the idea of using primary historical sources in order to teach and motivate undergraduate mathematics content. In particular, I am interested in using the history of point-set topology in order to teach point-set topology. This is extremely similar to the work of David Bressoud.. In August 2015, I along with 6 colleagues at 6 different institutions recieved a 5 year NSF grant to develop these so called primary source projects. Historical projects in all undergraduate areas of math will be developed, and my particular contribution will be in developing projects based on primary sources on point-set topology.
